★ The Walla-Walla Legacy
The 'Walla-Walla' is a hallmark of Hong Kong's maritime culture. These small, agile motorboats gained their name from the sound of their early diesel engines.
Since the mid-20th century, they have served as the vital 'final mile' for sailors and residents. Today, they are available for hire from the pier for harbor crossings and private tours when the Star Ferry is closed or for non-scheduled routes.
How to Board
- 01Proceed to Landing Steps 1–6 depending on boat size.
- 02Signal for private water taxis or check with captains of docked sightseeing vessels.
- 03Ensure lifejackets are present for all passengers before departure.
